Timothy Ray Eckersley, 62, a devoted soldier, loyal friend, and beloved family member, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Tim was born on April 19, 1962, to the late Frank "Harold" Eckersley and Phyllis Ann Wilson McNeille in Moore County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond and Lucille Wilson, and uncles, Jerry Wilson and Raymond Wilson Jr.
He is survived by two sisters, Sandra Evans and Diane Logan of Winston-Salem; Step-brother, David Duffer; uncle, Gene Wilson of Pinebluff; aunts, Sandra Wilson of Aberdeen and Lela Tew (Miles) of Raleigh; cousin, Michael (Alison) Wilson of West End; and many paternal family members, beloved nephews, cousins, and friends.
Timothy served honorably in the U.S. Army for 24 years and continued his dedication to the military as a contractor, specializing in training and surveillance, including his work with Robin Sage. Timothy was a prankster at heart, always ready with a joke or clever trick to bring laughter to those around him. He found joy reminiscing with family and friends, sharing stories of the past, and strengthening the bonds he cherished. A true sportsman, Timothy was passionate about football and basketball, always keeping up with statistics and never missing games. Above all, Timothy had a kind and generous heart. He would give the shirt off his back to those he loved. His selflessness, humor, and unwavering loyalty will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Southern Pines with full military honors. The service will be officiated by Pastor Gregg Newton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans or the Moore County Humane Society.
