Timothy Foley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. - Middletown on Dec. 30, 2025.
Timothy Foley, a cherished soul and beacon of love in the lives of all who knew him, was peacefully called to his eternal home on December 26, 2025, in Middletown, New York. Born on January 13, 1941, in Killowen, Newmarket, Co. Cork, Ireland, to Patrick and Agnes (nee Murphy), Tim's journey through life was one marked by hard work, love, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to his family and faith.
Tim's life was a testament to the power of love and dedication. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 54 years, Maureen (nee Tarrant), who was truly the love of his life. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, grace and love. His daughter, Fiona, and son-in-law, Alfred, were a constant source of pride and joy to him, as were his treasured grandchildren, Alfred (Alfie as he called him), Ryan, and Kiera. Tim is further survived by his brothers Jerry and Pete and sisters Maureen and Joan along with many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Tim was a proud retired member of the New York City Fire Department, a businessman and a farmer. He was a very hardworking man who never shied away from a challenge. He worked side by side with "the guys" and had nothing but respect for them. He was humble, kind and generous with all those he worked with. Tim was also a lifelong farmer. He loved farming and working with his cows. He worked tirelessly to take care of his family and took pride in every aspect of his life. His love for farming was not just a hobby but a way of life that allowed him to form a unique bond with nature and animals and teach life lessons to those he loved along the way.
A devout Catholic, Tim lived his faith through action. His gentle demeanor and compassionate heart were the embodiment of the teachings he held dear. He found solace and strength in his religion, which guided him in every aspect of his life and provided comfort to those around him.
To know Tim was to love him. He was humble and kind. He was thoughtful and practical. He was loving and respected. Tim had the ability to connect with people on a deep level. He touched lives in a quiet but powerful manner, leaving a legacy of kindness and understanding that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
Tim Foley lived a life of purpose and meaning, guided by the principles of love, family, and faith. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, we take solace in the knowledge that his legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories we share, the lessons he taught us, and the unwavering love he gave so freely. Rest in peace, dear Tim. Your light will forever shine in the hearts of those you've left behind.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2-5pm at Applebee McPhillips Funeral Home in Middletown, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 5 at 11am at St. Joseph's Church located at 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, New York.
