Timothy S. Hogan died in his home, with his family and dog on September 22. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patty Burke Hogan, his three children: Shannon Hogan (Peter Kulik), Erin Hogan Jones (Jeff Jones), Timothy (Ty) Hogan (Dr. Laura Schiller), his five grandchildren, Riley and Madeline Jones, Murphy and Maggie Kulik and Timothy Hogan and his two sisters, Nancy Hogan Dutton and Peggy Wyant (Jack). His parents, Judge Timothy S. Hogan and Evalon Roberts Hogan predeceased him.
Tim grew up on the family farm in Mulberry Ohio. He attended St. Xavier High School where he was co-captain of the 1964 Football Team. He started his college career at Holy Cross College in Massachusetts, then headed to Miami University where he spent a short but memorable year. He joined the Marines in the height of the Vietnam War rather than show his grades to his father. He survived both Parris Island and then Quantico for Officer Training School. Returning to Cincinnati, he attended Xavier University. Some twenty years later he graduated from XU with his daughter Erin.
While in his 20's he became involved in Democratic politics in Clermont County and was elected County Commissioner in 1974, then the youngest County Commissioner in Ohio. During his term of office, Clermont County was the fastest growing county in the state. Jobs were his political platform and he brought the Ford plant to the county, and worked on the development of Eastgate Mall and the shopping area that now houses Jungle Jim's. Tim stayed active in Democratic politics and was elected to the Ohio Democratic Central Committee for the 14th District in 2018. He loved meeting people and championing rural counties.
Tim was involved in real estate as a developer, agent and appraiser. His company, Hogan and Associates, did thousands of appraisals over 35 years in business. This fueled his favorite driving game of pointing to something and asking "What's it worth?" He served on numerous community boards and coached sports teams for children and grandchildren. He never missed any of their sporting events and had a tradition of Action Sundays of fun, often death defying adventures. Happily, everyone survived.
Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, October 12 at St Andrew Church, Milford Ohio, followed by an Irish wake. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Friars Club, 4300 Vine Street, Cincinnati or Xavier University, 3800 Victory Parkway, Cincinnati.
