Timothy Jay Moon
October 28, 1946 – January 28, 2026
Timothy Jay Moon, 79, of
Ocean Shores, Washington, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital in
Aberdeen, WA.
Tim was born on October 28, 1946, in
Cleveland, Ohio, to DuWayne and Eleanor (Fleming) Moon. He was raised in Lyndhurst, Ohio, where he graduated from Charles F. Brush High School in 1964.
Shortly after high school, Tim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He enlisted in June 1964 and was honorably discharged in June 1968 with the rank of Sergeant. During his service, Tim trained as a programmer-an early passion that would shape his lifelong career in information technology.
On May 28, 1968, Tim married the love of his life, Pamela C. Moon, in Basel, Switzerland. Together they built a marriage rooted in love, partnership, and adventure that spanned nearly six decades.
Tim spent much of his professional career with Weyerhaeuser, where he worked from 1980 until his retirement in 2006. Known for his sharp mind and problem-solving skills, he was respected as an IT guru long before technology became commonplace.
In 1980, Tim and Pam moved to the Pacific Northwest, eventually settling in
Ocean Shores, WA in 2008.
Above all else, Tim was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who took immense pride in his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pamela Moon of Ocean Shores; his son, Dennis (Janel) Moon of Tacoma, Washington; his daughters, Tammy (Kendrick) George of Astoria, Oregon, and Andrea Moon of Fort Collins, Colorado; his sister, Martha (El) of Roanoke, Virginia; six grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren, all of whom are now looking for a new IT person. He was also cherished by his beloved dogs, Wicket and Kiai, who brought him daily joy. He is also survived by countless numbers of "adopted" children who became a part of his life as friends of his children and who saw him as another father in their lives.
Tim had a playful spirit and a curious mind. He enjoyed kite flying, was known as a bit of a "pun master," and never lost his enthusiasm for learning and technology. His love for people showed in how he spent his time, consistently giving of his wit and his talents to serve others in all the communities he came in contact with. His humor, intelligence, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
At Tim's request, no formal services will be held.
Memorial contributions may be made in Tim's honor to North Beach PAWS or the Grays Harbor Historical Society.
