Timothy "Timmy" Charles Puglisi passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, with his beloved twin brother by his side, after a courageous 15-month journey with pancreatic cancer.
Timmy was born alongside his twin, Jimmy, on January 31, 1956, in Torino, Italy. At just two and a half years old, the boys were adopted by their loving parents, James Aloysius and Phyllis Mary Puglisi, and raised in Arlington, VA. From a young age, Timmy's deep Catholic faith and joyful spirit were apparent-he attended parochial schools through high school and brought that same sense of devotion and warmth into everything he did.
A gifted athlete, Timmy shined on the pitcher's mound at Bishop O'Connell High School, earning a scholarship to Virginia Tech. A proud Hokie for life, Timmy could often be found cheering from the stands-or more accurately, from Parking Lot #1-hosting what was arguably the best tailgate in town. His favorite line? "Don't meet me there-beat me there!"
When he wasn't rallying for Virginia Tech, he was enthusiastically cheering on his nieces and nephews at their games, recitals, and milestones-always front row, always beaming. Timmy was the ultimate second dad and honorary grandpop, never missing a moment. His river lot was the backdrop to years of boating, tubing, fishing, jet skiing, and storytelling-later becoming his retirement haven filled with peace, laughter, and family joy.
Professionally, Timmy built a legacy in Northern Virginia through homebuilding and later in commercial real estate investment. But if you asked him, his greatest pride was always his family. He was the kind of guy who gave big hugs, shared uplifting words, had plenty of silly one-liners, and always made you feel like the most important person in the room.
He was a true original-kind-hearted, loyal, funny, and larger than life. The love and generosity he showed to everyone lucky enough to know him was unmatched.
Timmy was preceded in death by his loving parents and is survived by his devoted twin brother, James "Jimmy" A. Puglisi, (Betsie), nephews James A. Puglisi, Jr. (Bethiny) and Andy Puglisi, niece Laurie Beth Puglisi, great-niece Chloe Grace Stark Puglisi, and a large, close-knit extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who all adored their "Uncle Timmy."
One close family friend recently summed him up best: "He was a great man who treated strangers like friends, and friends like family. We will all miss him."
