Timothy "Tim" Schlageter ObituaryThough Timothy Schlageter has left this world, the light he gave it will never fade. Tim, 65, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, passed away on August 25 after a life lived with hard work, conviction, and love.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Hazel Schlageter, and his brothers, Benny Knotts and Randall Schlageter. He is survived by his loving companion Christine Trusty; his son, James Schlageter; his daughters, Amy (Byron) Floyd and Shannon (Eric) Starkey; his grandchildren, Brennen "Tim" Mansell, Byron (Carmen) Floyd, Shealyn Herda, and McKayla Herda; his siblings, Russ Knotts, Becky (Jay) Caswell, Kathy Kocevar, Patrick Schlageter, and Melanie (Jeff) Fultz; and his beloved nieces and nephews.
Tim lived life his way. For over 40 years, he owned and operated Tim's Auto Body, beginning with just $2,500 and a dream. What he built was more than a business, he didn't just fix cars; he helped restore people. Whether someone was down on their luck, fighting addiction, or simply in need of a chance, Tim was there. He believed in second chances, and he had a way of seeing the good in others even when they couldn't see it in themselves.
Tim was also a builder of more than just cars. From his first garage in his parents' backyard, to remodeling homes, to completing the dream building he had worked toward all his life, his hands and his heart were always at work.
He gave new life to what others cast aside, from scrap metal to souls in need of hope. No matter the circumstance, if you truly needed him, he was there without hesitation.
Tim will be remembered for his honesty, his strength, and his beautiful soul. He leaves behind not only the family who adored him, but also countless lives he touched along the way. His love for his family, friends, and God was fierce and steady.
Hug the Big House in the Sky, Tim. You were a true professional at life.
