Timothy Peter Scianna also known as "Big Tim", age 56, of Derby entered into rest after a long courageous battle against cancer on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Tim was born in Bridgeport, on July 26, 1966, son of the late John Peter and Jean Elizabeth (Raksa) Scianna. He was a resident of Derby and previously a longtime resident of Shelton.
He was the owner and manager of TPS Janitorial Services, LLC for over 25 years. Tim was a loving, caring and warm-hearted person who had the charisma to make everyone around him smile. Most of all he cherished spending time with his family. He loved cooking, swimming and fishing. Tim also enjoyed landscaping and making improvements to his home. He loved his dogs, especially Spartan, his Chocolate Lab.
Tim was the loving father of Lindsay Jean Scianna and beloved brother of Roberta Piroscafo, Donna (Thomas) Mahoney, Christine Scianna, Kathleen (Frederick) Hammond and Lori Scianna. He was also the uncle of Gina Piroscafo, Julie (Devon) Powers-Piroscafo, Donato (Jamie) Piroscafo, Lauren Piroscafo, Tyler Hammond, Olivia Hammond, Brendan (Amanda) Mahoney, Darren (Michelle) Mahoney and Alexa (Richard) Ruggiero and great uncle of Scarlett Ruggiero, Ariah Mahoney and Lucia Piroscafo. Tim was a mentor to Lindsay's brother, Jesse Lesko.
Tim was predeceased by his nephew Eric Mahoney, and his brother-in-law Larry Piroscafo.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sethi, nurse Donna and all of the doctors, nurses and staff at Smilow Cancer Hospital for their care and compassion for Tim.
On Wednesday, friends may greet the family from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Thursday, his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 8:15 AM for his Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, Shelton. His burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
