Timothy Allen Sligh of Rapid River, Michigan lost his battle with stomach cancer and went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2022.
Timmy Toes, as he was affectionately nicknamed by his parents Allen and Norma Sligh and Timbo by his siblings was born on December 15, 1955, in Greenville, South Carolina. Tim had the privilege of living all over the world in places like Puerto Rico, Taiwan, Panama and Okinawa, Japan as a military brat and a preacher's kid.
Tim was a sweet, compassionate, giving person who brought joy and laughter to the people in his life. Even to the end he was encouraging others, joking, and making his family, the nursing staff and others around him laugh. While Tim enjoyed camping and loved playing board games, cards and video games, once he discovered Bingo, that became his passion. He and his neighbor, Barbara played Bingo several times a week. Despite his pain, twelve days before he passed, Tim played Bingo for the final time and was ecstatic when he won $200. Now that's passion!
In his later years, Tim met the love of his life, Shirley Larson and they spent many loving years together travelling, fishing and building a life together until she succumbed to lung cancer in 2018. While Tim never had children of his own, he was loved by numerous nephews and a niece who filled that void as well as being entertained by two "kitties" that he loved dearly and doted on.
Tim was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Allen D. Sligh III who died in Okinawa, Japan at the age of four and his parents, Rev. Allen and Norma Sligh and his beloved Shirley Larson.
Tim is survived by:
his sister, Mary (Dan) Mouw of Chattanooga, TN
3 brothers: Rev. Charles (Susan) Sligh of Schlammersdorf, Germany
Stephen Sligh of Gulf Breeze, FL
David (Marie) Sligh of Mabank, TX
Additionally, Tim is survived by his niece, Elizabeth Mouw and nephews: Jeremy Mouw, Isaiah Mouw, Zack Mouw, Daniel Mouw, Michael Sligh, Ryan Sligh, Brandon Sligh, Chris Sligh, Jon Sligh and (USAF) Msgt. Allen Sligh. Also, Tim's special and dear friend Barbara Kossow as well as numerous cousins and friends throughout the world.
Tim's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire staff at Christian Park Village for their compassion, professionalism, support and caring ways.

Had many great fishing memories with Uncle Timmy Toes from fishing in the dark in his 2 seater blow up raft to fishing in the back creek for bream. He was always so giving, loved to document memories by recording them, and light hearted. He will be missed. Love you, Uncle Tim.
