Toby F. Burke

Toby Burke, 54, of Gloucester, passed away on July 29th in his hometown of Gloucester.
Born and raised in Gloucester, Toby was a familiar face around town and a proud member of the community. For over 20 years, he worked as a roofer with Seamless Gutters, known for his strong work ethic, craftsmanship, and no-nonsense approach to getting the job done.
Toby had a goofy personality, always cracking jokes-even the kind that made you shake your head-and his dark sense of humor could light up a room in the most unexpected ways. Beneath that tough exterior was a man who was deeply caring and kind, someone who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. He often gave more than he had, always willing to help others, even when he struggled to help himself.
He had a special bond with his mother, Carol Burke, who was not only his mom but his best friend and closest confidant. Their connection was something rare and beautiful, and it shaped so much of who he was. He is also survived by his beloved grandmother, Bette Hilshey of Gloucester, MA; and his siblings, Todd Burke and Robin Medeiros, with whom he shared many memories and life moments.
Toby was predeceased by his father, Robert Burke of Gloucester, MA.
He was the proud father of three children-Chris, Brittany, and Cody-and a devoted grandfather to Matteo, Bellamy, Cannan, and Camryn, who brought him endless joy and pride. Toby loved spending time with his kids, sharing laughs, stories, and life lessons in his own unique way.
He was passionate about sports, especially football, and had a lifelong fascination with guns, history, and old war and Wild West movies. His love was big, his presence unforgettable, and his generosity unmatched.
Toby will be missed more than words can say-but he will live on in the stories, laughter, and love he leaves behind.
