Toby Wayne Dartez, age 58 of Alvin, Texas, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at HCA Clear Lake Hospital. Toby was born March 22, 1966, in Jennings, Louisiana and had been a resident of Alvin for 35 years. He worked as a manual machinist for Lockheed Martin at NASA for 25 years. He was awarded several patents at NASA for tools he designed and created especially for the Space Shuttle. The award he was most proud of was the Autoignition Chamber for Remote Testing of Pyrotechnic Devices. Toby will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was a man of many talents with a cowboy spirit at heart. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and known for his kindness, hard work, and sense of humor. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nealis and Barbara Dartez.
Toby is survived by his son, Tyler Dartez and wife Samantha; daughter, Cheyanne Dartez and fiancé Skyler Baldwin; two sisters, Jamie Dartez, Eva Trahan and husband Joey; three brothers, Todd Dartez, Patrick Dartez, and Benjamin Dartez; six grandchildren, Colton Dartez, Connor Kreger, Callie Kreger, Caylee Kreger, Blaze Baldwin, and Lylah Baldwin; former spouse, Sheryl Dartez; along with numerous extended family and friends. His legacy of strength, integrity, and compassion will live on in those who were lucky enough to know him.
Toby's wishes are to be cremated, and a private family service will be held at a later date.
