Max Clawson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scott Funeral Home - Alvin on Dec. 12, 2025.
Max E. Clawson, age 73, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025, after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma. Max was born on March 13, 1952, in El Dorado Arkansas to parents Milton and Opal Clawson. He moved to Alvin with his family when he was 11 years old and was a 1971 graduate of Alvin High School.

Max is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lawana Miller, brother Ken Clawson and in-laws John T and Loyce Sargent. Max first and foremost loved his God and did his best to serve Him every day and set an example for others. He served as a deacon at Westside Church of Christ. He also would do all he could to help anyone who needed it.

His second love was his family. He always tried to be an encouragement to them. He and Ann celebrated their 56th anniversary on November 28th.

Max is survived by his wife, Ann Clawson, son, Brian Clawson and wife, Heather, who Max considered a daughter, daughters, Kara Clawson and Breanna Clawson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alex Travis (Bryce), Jared Labrot (Heather), Kaylee Labrot, Makenzie Medina (Daniel), Michael Earp, James Tobias, Michael Clawson and Ben Clawson. He is also survived by his brother, David Clawson and sister-in-law, Betty Clawson and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. And we can't forget his favorite lap warmer, Dobby.

His great grandchildren were his pride and joy. Timothy Clawson, Olivia Medina, Abigail Medina, Violet Labrot, Kristin Tobias and his little buddy, Aiden Labrot.

Glioblastoma is a cruel and incurable brain cancer. Very little research is being done, and the five-year survival rate is a mere 5%.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Westside Church of Christ or the Glioblastoma Foundation (glioblastomafoundation.org) or gbmresearch.org.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 18,2025 at Westside Church of Christ (831 Heights Rd. Alvin TX) at 11 am with a visitation beginning at 10 am.
