Todd Caudel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brent Taylor Funeral Directors on Apr. 11, 2025.
Todd Bryant Caudel, 52, went to be with our Lord on April 8, 2025. Born in Houston, Texas, on Sept 13, 1972 to Jerry Glyn and Diana Cutting Caudel. He leaves a loving family, his wife Erin Hayes Caudel and four children, Grayson Bryant, Sophie Elise, Lily Renee and Oliver Glenn along with his parents, and brother David (April) and family (Mason Hall, Sage, Aidan and Reiley). He is survived by aunt and uncle, JoAnn and Carl R Cutting and Cutting cousins Andrew (Angela) and Allison (Paul). He always enjoyed the Williams family cousins Phil (Becky), Keith (Glynda) and Larry (Cindy), and the many second cousins. They were loving and helpful but especially when he moved his family to Memphis. Predeceased by grandparents L.O. and Beauton Buchanan Caudel, Carl Vernon and Marie Lamb Cutting.
Todd was a proud Texan; he loved Dr. Pepper, Blue Bell ice cream, Whataburger and all things relating to The Lone Star State. Swimming on the swim team each summer was a great love, as well as, later swimming on the high school team. He spent much of his childhood outdoors exploring the bayous and woods of Houston with his brother, David. His love of nature was furthered through his involvement in the Boy Scouts of America. He was proud to achieve the rank of Eagle while also earning the God and Country award and Order of the Arrow.
In his youth, Todd was a percussionist at Lassiter High School, in Marietta, GA and got to march in the Rose Bowl parade and the Bands of America Marching Band competition. Todd attended Samford University where he continued to pursue his love for percussion before becoming the Samford mascot "Spike". He took pride in ensuring that his portrayal of the loveable bulldog was enjoyed by everyone, but especially the kids. He remembered his fear of characters in costumes and made sure children were comfortable when he performed. Todd was considerate of others and truly lived with a servant's heart. Todd followed in his father's oversized footsteps and trained in clowning as a way to bring joy to those around him. He loved working at children's birthday parties and local events where he often performed with his wife, Erin, at children's events.
Todd found a home wherever he went. Todd was active at Johnson Ferry Baptist in Georgia, first as a member of the youth group and later as an adult giving back to the very same youth group that was so influential to his faith as a young man. He continued this mission at Hilldale Baptist in Alabama until eventually finding his home as a member of Bartlett Baptist where he taught Sunday School, helped with the 5th & 6th grade ministry, and was a deacon. He loved these church families deeply. Todd also found a home at Blue Bell Ice Cream where he considered his work there as a childhood dream coming true. He was always grateful to be welcomed into such a close-knit family.
Building with Legos was always Todd's therapy. He had many lovely memories of assembling with his family, friends and then his children. He loved supporting all of his children in their academic, athletic, and creative pursuits. He was their biggest cheerleader!
Todd loved Jesus and his family foremost, but this love was shared with everyone he encountered. Throughout his life, Todd encouraged people to find joy in life. This was especially true throughout his journey with cancer. His biggest hope was that people could love the Lord and live fully in spite of difficult circumstances. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but he was fortunate to know how deeply loved he was by those around him and whom he will see again soon in Christ.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4pm (visitation at 3pm) on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Bartlett Baptist Church. Bartlett Baptist Church 3465 Kirby Whitten Parkway Bartlett, TN 38135
