Donald Todd Mehlhoff, 70, passed away in
Orem, Utah at Cascade Orchard Rehabilitation on February 16, 2025 after years of declining health. Born Dec. 29 1955 in Provo Utah, Todd was the first of 6 children born to Don and Jeanice Mehlhoff. At the age of 5 his family moved to Orem where he was raised and later became a 1974 graduate of Orem High School, participating in many sports, excelling in track. After graduation, he served a full time mission in San Diego CA for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His mission was a pivotal moment in his life and he loved every minute of it. Even stating that he'd turn around and serve all over again if he could. Upon returning home, he continued working at Quality RV where he started working at the age of 14 – developing a strong work ethic under his father's mentoring. This became his career for many years. He met the lovely Joni Robinson of Star Valley, Wyoming and they were married in the Salt Lake City Temple. Their union was blessed with four children: Mandee Lynn, Mitchell Todd, Megann Marinn, Marinn Terra. They later divorced.
Todd went out of his way to treat people kindly and was known for his generosity. He had a keen wit and phenomenal memory, the makings for entertaining conversation. No one could tell a story quite like him. A few lifelong friends faithfully visited him during his declining years, walking down memory lane and reminiscing about the good ol days. Going above and beyond was the special care and attentiveness from a childhood friend, Paul Overly, who visited him almost daily. Paul brought friendship and purpose to Todd's life when he needed it most. We thank him and all those who showed up and loved Todd during tough days when his dignity was being stripped, little by little. The same is to be said for the thoughtful care from ward members, aides, and Bishops. We thank you all.
Family was everything to Todd and he openly expressed his love for them in every interaction; his children were his world. And what high praises he sang of his dear mother, up until his dying day. Sadly, he was his own harshest critic and struggled to love himself. Now free from his decayed and sickly body, his spirit can soar to more love than he could possibly comprehend awaiting him on the other side. "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles Isaiah 40:31 (a favorite scripture of Todds)
Todd leaves behind his daughters: Mandee Lynn Mehlhoff – Pocatello Idaho, Marinn Terra – Orem Utah, 4 grandchildren: Jaydin Follett, Jarin Follett, Alysa Follett, Brooklynn Campbell, brother Trent (Diana), brother Taryn (Ez), sister Brooke (Kreg), brother Troy. Preceded in death – wife Joni, daughter Megann, son Mitchell, younger brother Tracy, father Don.
Todd will be buried in Orem City Cemetery. A celebration of life to be held in the spring.
