ASHLAND: Tom Rodman was a bass-whisperer. For years he fished the Ohio Bass Tournament Circuit - he favored fishing the Ohio River - criss-crossing the state with his Skeeter boat. He later joined the Wednesday night tournament group at the Clear Fork Bass Club.
The great Fisher-of-Men has pulled Tom from his net - and brought him into His care, as Tom passed away Sunday morning May 4, 2025 in The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He was 76.
Born Thomas Orlo Rodman on June 8, 1948 in Hialeah, Florida to parents Ned V. and Frances A. (Smith) Rodman, Tom was graduated from Plymouth High School. He studied at Indianapolis Technical Institute and served four years in the U.S. Air Force.
Tom had worked with Autocall in Shelby, first in the machine shop, and then in quality control. He accepted a position with Time Warner, working in the field with customer service before transferring to the warehouse, retiring in September of 2014.
An avid gardener, he took pride in maintaining his home, lawns, and landscaping. He was a member of Ashland Church of Christ, and the Thursday morning men's breakfast group. Tom had achieved the Five-Gallon mark with blood donations with the American Red Cross.
Remembered as a man of God - with a deep Christian faith - he attended to the needs of others. "A saint he was not" but he was a great husband, father and grandfather - a man who would do anything for his family.
He leaves the legacy as a guiding light to those who knew him. His sense of humor was sharp - he loved to tease people - and he had a huge heart for his Shelties: Luke, and Tsuki and his current canine companion, Lincoln.
And after all those years of fishing, his best catch was still his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Yoho) Rodman; their daughter Kristi (Nick) Farina of Novelty; granddaughters Taylor Tracy of Novelty and Kelly (Joe) Farina of Cuyahoga Falls; great granddaughter Gabriella Rose; brother Christopher (Cindy) Rodman of Tiro; father-in-law Neil Yoho of Ashland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Doug (Vicki) Yoho of Ashland and Mary (Robert) Knowlton of Mansfield; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother-in-law Imogene Yoho.
The Rodman family will receive guests Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Ashland Church of Christ, 1185 County Road 1356, Ashland, OH 44805. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 1 p.m. led by Pastor Tim Nowlin. The Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, Mansfield, is handling funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom's memory may be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital Cardiac Research Unit, or Ashland Church of Christ, or Ashland County Humane Society.
