Tommie Sue Heltsley, a beloved Sister, Mother, Aunt and Grandma, passed away on April 2, 2025 at 66 years old. She was born September 4, 1958, to Gene and Jesse McCoy.
Tommie will be remembered for her vibrant personality. She was always cutting up and joking, never failing to lighten up the room she was in. She was adventurous; she never liked staying home for long and loved being on the go. Her favorite way to unwind was kicking back in her recliner and kicking up her feet, and watching a good show.
She devoted her life to raising her grandsons, who held a special place in her heart and became the focus of her attention. Tommie had 5 children that she loved, but all her grandkids were her whole life. She never knew a stranger and would help anyone who was in need. She had a long-standing fascination with George Strait that was beyond just his country music.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, Gene and Jesse McCoy, her brothers, Jimmy, Mickey, James, Alan, and Billy Jo. Also, her sisters, Betty Nell, and Veta, her son John Paul and grandson Timothey.
She is survived by her daughters Jeanne (Mike) Wilson of Munday, Tx, Dorothy Lambard of Anson, her sons, Christopher (Crystal) Cooper of Abilene, Tx, and Steven (Shae) Cooper of Alexander, Al. Two sisters, Vicki (Danny) Slack of Abilene, Tx, and Debbie (Doug) Adams of Abilene, Tx. She had 24 Grandkids, 22 Great-Grandkids, and 3 Great-Great Grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at North's Funeral Home in Abilene, Texas. Family and friends are invited to come and celebrate her life.
