Tommy Louis Hooks, age 87, passed away on October 18, 2024, at Chestnut Terrace Memory Care, St. Peters, MO.
Born November 18, 1936, in Lake Village, AR to Chester Louis and Melissa Inez Peacock Hooks.
Tommy was a 1954 graduate of Lake Village High School and a 1958 Honor Graduate of Arkansas A & M College, Monticello, AR. A member of Alpha Chi Honor Society and Kappa Sigma Kappa Fraternity.
After earning his degree in accounting, Tommy began his professional career as Office Manager at Georgia Pugh Ford, Lincoln, Mercury in Crossett, AR. Despite the business transitioning through multiple owners and name changes, Tommy's dedication to the company never faltered. He proudly retired after 50 years of loyal service.
Tommy's wholehearted devotion though was to Crossett First Baptist Church which he joined in 1955. Over the years he poured his heart into the church, serving as Deacon and was active on various committees. After retirement his involvement deepened, always willing to lend a helping hand, The Wee School held a special place in his heart.
A member the Ashley County Baptist Association, he was honored for 38 years of service.
From 1976 to 1982 he was a chairman of the County Election Commission of which he was a member for 26 years.
In 2004, Tommy became involved with the Crossett Historical Society and spent many enjoyable hours working to restore the Wiggins Cabin and other structures added to enhance the use of the cabin site for the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Florrie Wallace Hooks, who resided in the family home and brother-in-law John Mobley.
Tommy is survived by his sister, Shirley Mobley of St. Peters, MO; Nephew, John David Mobley and wife Rachel of South Orange, NJ; Niece, Melissa Mobley Weissler, husband Bradley and their daughters Charlotte and Lucy of Cottieville, MO.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, Crossett, AR.
Interment will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home, Crossett, AR.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Crossett, AR.
