Tommy Joe Mote was born on August 1, 1980, in Durant, Oklahoma to parents Rickey Wayne Mote and Darla Gail (Pigg) Giles. Tommy passed away on August 13, 2024, at his home in Durant with his family by his side at the age of 44. Tommy attended school in Silo. He was employed as a mechanic and enjoyed anything with wheels and a motor, from working on them and riding from sunup to sundown. Tommy married Kristey DeAnn Johnston on August 19, 2006. He attended Victory Life Church and Calvary Baptist churches in Durant. His favorite pastime was getting the family together for cookouts and sharing old stories of him in his prime.
Tommy is preceded in death by his mother Darla Giles; grandparents Margaret and Cleo Pigg and Minnie and Homer Mote; brother Christopher Giles; and mother-in-law Patricia Sessums.
Tommy is survived by his wife Kristey Mote of Durant; father Rickey Mote of Durant; sons Cameron Mote and wife Summer Williams of Durant and Brenden Mote of Durant; daughters Mackenzie Mote and husband Frankie Sweat of Durant and Montana Whitley-Pierce of New Mexico; sister Ashley Jackson and husband Darius of Durant; brother Eric Giles of Durant; sister Melinda Gail Farrell and husband Jesse of Durant; step son Jordan Rogers of Loranger, LA; 8 grandchildren including his Buddy "Inch" and his Best Friend Maverick.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday August 22, 2024, at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery with Cameron Mote, Eric Giles, Brenden Mote, Corey Dunegan, Joe Bailey, and Michael Childers serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Maverick Mote, Josh Bannowsky and Cody Dunegan. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM.
