Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Service - Yorktown Blvd. on Apr. 21, 2024.
Tommy Jane Rose, known affectionately as Tommy to her friends and family, left this world on April 20, 2024, at the age of 90, to join her beloved son Theron in eternal rest. She was born in the peaceful town of
Fort Davis, Texas, on the 18th of May, 1933, and passed away surrounded by the love of her family in
Corpus Christi, Texas.
Tommy's life was a testament to her enduring faith and the love she harbored for everyone she met. As a long-standing Avon sales associate, she became a familiar and trusted face in her community, always ready with a kind word and a smile. Her work was more than a job; it was a means to connect with people, to share stories and laughter, and to extend her innate warmth to others.
Her commitment to her faith was unwavering, and Tommy found great joy in sharing the gospel and attending church services in addition to teaching Sunday school and bringing the Word to young students. She believed deeply in the power of faith to heal and guide, and she lived her life as an example of the grace and compassion she so often spoke about. Her love for the Lord was evident in her every action, and she found solace and strength in her spiritual readings.
One of Tommy's favorite things was to cheer on and talk about her favorite sports teams, the Houston Astros, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Longhorns. Tommy's interests extended to the silver screen as well, where she found pleasure in the timeless stories told in classic movies. She could often be found recounting the tales of old Hollywood, drawing parallels between the virtues of her favorite characters and the lessons she cherished in her day-to-day life.
Known for her loving nature and kindheartedness, Tommy was the embodiment of the words of Mother Teresa, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." This philosophy guided Tommy throughout her life and was reflected in the way she nurtured her relationship with those who loved her, and will remember her as a beacon of love and strength in their lives. She is survived by her brother Gerald Lee McCormick, niece, Denise Garcia (Mark), her great-niece, Miranda Felts, great-nephew, Wyatt Felts, her grandson, Thomas Armendariz, and countless friends whom she cherished.
Though her son Theron preceded her in death, Tommy's legacy of faith, love, and kindness lives on through her family and the countless lives she touched. Her presence was a gift to those around her, and her memory will continue to inspire and bring comfort to all who knew her.
As we bid farewell to Tommy Jane Rose, we celebrate a life richly lived and a soul that has undoubtedly found its place in heaven. She was a woman of immense faith, and her life's journey was a reflection of the love and light she carried within her. Her passing is not an end but a continuation of the spiritual journey she held so dear.
Tommy's story does not conclude with her passing but lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched. We honor her memory by living out the values she exemplified and by cherishing the moments we were fortunate enough to share with her. Her spirit, a blend of tenderness and unwavering faith, will remain an enduring presence among us.
To celebrate her life there will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at Southcrest Baptist Church. Afterward, Tommy would love it if you would join us for fellowship and sharing of memories at her favorite place to eat, B & J's Pizza on SPID.
