Tommy Thomson Obituary

Thomas "Tommy" Edgar Thomson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on September 9, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on June 1, 1943, to Bob and Ruby Thomson, Tommy lived a life marked by hard work, deep faith, laughter, and unwavering love for his family.

Tommy grew up in Lakewood, Ohio, near the shores of Lake Erie. Summers were especially treasured at his family's cottage in Linwood Park, Vermilion, where he developed a lifelong love for the lake and boating.

After graduating high school, Tommy attended Lincoln College before serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was honorably discharged when his career took him overseas, beginning a long professional journey. Tommy's work brought him across the world-South Korea, Italy, India, South Africa, Australia, South America and many parts of Europe-where he was known for his dedication, integrity, and determination to ensure that every customer was satisfied.

Tommy then met the love of his life, Christine, and together they shared 52 years of marriage filled with devotion and adventure. They raised two children, Melissa and Matthew, who remained the joy of his life. Tommy was a faithful supporter of his children, cheering them on in gymnastics, wrestling, and beyond.

Faith was central to Tommy's life. At Bay Presbyterian Church in Bay Village, he sang with the Promise choir and served wherever he was needed. He lived out his faith with a servant's heart.

Retirement in 2008 gave Tommy more time for what he loved most: traveling with Chris, boating at Catawba Island, and delighting in his grandchildren-Rachel, Nate, Gabe, Caleb, and Hope Woolley; and Abbey, Hannah, Ben, and Isaac Thomson.

Even as Alzheimer's slowed him in recent years, Tommy never lost his humor or his gift for lifting the spirits of those around him. His playful sayings and jokes will long be remembered, from "If I were any better, I couldn't stand it," to "Good morning, glory, good night shirt."

Tommy will be remembered as a man who loved God, his family, and his friends. He worked hard, laughed often, and found joy in helping others. His legacy is one of devotion, kindness, and a life well lived.

He is survived by his wife, Chris; his children, Melissa (Wade) Woolley and Matt (Nikki) Thomson; nine grandchildren; his brother, Beau Thomson; and his sister, Barbara Murphy. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jane Enyeart; and his sister-in-law, Sally Thomson.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Bay Presbyterian Church 25415 Lake Road, Bay Village, OH 44140, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m.

The family invites those who wish to honor Tommy's memory to consider a donation to the Carolyn L. Farrell Foundation (farrellfoundation.org/donate/) or Bay Presbyterian Church (baypres.org/give), two communities that reflect Tom's spirit of love and care for others.
