Funeral services for Tony Burks, age 54, of Roanoke will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Danny Anglin and Bro. Chad Mitchum officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Mills Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Quattlebaum's from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
Mr. Burks passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024, at UAB Hospital.
Pallbearers will be Marty Ivey, Matt Mitchell, Taylor Mitchell, Jason Whitten, Michael Puckett and Jeremy Burks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Kirby, Greg Cochran, Ben Blackstone, Dennis Mobley, Boyd Earl, Jeremy Cooke and Roger Camp.
Survivors include: his wife, Christy Hand Burks; two daughters, Victoria (Dennis) Mobley and Macenzie Burks, both of Roanoke; a son, Joby Traylor of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Dennis Mobley III and Nathan Earl; three sisters, Beth (Russell) Kirby, Becky Burks and Tina Burks, all of Roanoke and Rock Mills; a brother, Timmy Burks of Rock Mills; a sister-in-law, Mae Dean Burks of Roanoke; 12 nieces and nephews; and 13 great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Burks was born on September 24, 1969, the son of Nathan "Froggy" and Janice Turner Burks. He was Christian by faith. Mr. Tony was competitive and loved to play 8-ball pool. His passion was racing, whether it was running the cars or working on them. Mr. Tony also loved to hunt, fish and watch Alabama Football. His biggest love and source of pride came from his family, especially his grandbabies. Mr. Tony had worked with the Roanoke Utilities Board for many years before eventually going to work for the City of Lanett as a shop mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jerry Lee Burks and Jimmy Burks; grandparents, Hoyt and Louise Burks and Raymond and Lois Turner; and a niece, Chasity Burks.
Memorials may be floral.
