Tony Disy Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home - Caribou on Oct. 4, 2024.
Caribou – Tony Allen Disy, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at A.R. Gould Hospital in Presque Isle surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Caribou on May 25, 1955, the son of Edward and Sylvia (Chapman) Disy.
Tony grew up working alongside his father at the family-owned pawn shop, Caribou Trading Post, established in 1962. The Trading Post became a beloved community hub where locals would often stop by to chat and "shoot the breeze". It remained a business staple in Caribou for over 50 years. In total, Tony dedicated 51 years of his life to the family business.
Music was a significant part of Tony's life. He enjoyed writing, singing, and playing music, and in his youth, he was a member of a rock band. Later, he found joy in playing music whether as a member of the folk group at his church, or around the campfire with family and friends. Tony cherished time with his family, especially during outdoor activities like fishing and hunting in the woods and taking in all things in nature. He was also an exceptional water skier, notorious for playfully spraying lake-goers with his long ski spray. His quick wit and sense of humor left a lasting impression on those around him. One of his greatest passions was enjoying scenic rides on his motorcycle.
Though a man of few words, Tony's wisdom and love spoke volumes. He always sought the good in life and was ever ready to lend a hand or offer encouragement. His humble and gentle spirit made him a beacon of kindness and generosity.
Tony's love for his family was boundless. He took every opportunity to gather with his loved ones at Cross Lake for traditional Lebanese meals. He was married to Garnet for 35 years, and although their marriage ended, their love endured.
Tony is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Sylvia Disy. He is survived by his daughter Mandy and grandson Simon Disy, his son Cole, and his wife Ashley, and grandson Jameson Disy. He also leaves behind his brothers Edward and his wife Paula, Lute, Mike, Greg and his wife Kathie; his sisters Antoniette "Sissy" Makarewics, Fran Day, and Connie Brown; his former wife Garnet; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
