Today, we feel numb with the passing of our rock, husband, father, Tony Lee Happel, on March 29, 2025. He was more than just a husband, he was my best friend, my soulmate, the love of my life, and a wonderful father. From our first date at the mailbox with a rose, a beer, and a hug throughout our 16 years of marriage, he was ALWAYS there for us with his smile that made us smile, his jokes or funny dances that made us laugh, and his warm embrace that got us through the tough times. He warmed my heart with love letters, poems, and words of encouragement. He was so proud of his 3 sons, each unique in their own way. He supported their adventures and never missed an opportunity to tell them he loved them. He was always grateful to be welcomed into the Yearty family with open arms, love, and support as he started a new life in Florida.
Not only was Tony a family man, he was a friend and a community man. He loved his friends like family and cherished each one. He worked hard to build relationships with the people in the small town of Baker. Originally being born in Kiel, Wisconsin, on July 12, 1967, he was proud to call Baker his final earthly home. A hard worker was how he was known to all. He worked tirelessly to build his hay business, Baker Feed and Country Store, and Gator Tough Ranch Stuff to serve his community. There was never a question too small, a problem too hard, or a farm too large for Tony.
Boy, did he love his John Deere tractors. He found so much strength and peace in a tractor seat while he spoke to God in both happy and troubled time, seeking HIS guidance. His love for animals was evident in how they reacted to his presence. He had a calming way with his cows, horses, dogs, and even the cats!
Tony, you were my everything. I have loved you from the beginning and will continue to love you every day. I dream of the day we are united again in OUR heavenly home.
Tony was proud to be a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and honored to be a 3rd Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He also offered his expertise and services to many local organizations and clubs in the surrounding communities to help build agriculture and equestrian events.
Preceded in death by his father, Don Lee Happel. Tony is survived by his wife, Heather Happel; his sons, William (Juli), Blaze and Auggie Happel; his grandson, Mason Happel; his mother, Joanne Bird and stepmom, Anita Happel; his siblings, Wendy Johnson, Matthew (Delores) Wildman, Mark (Yu) Wildman, Luke (Sheila) Wildman, John (Amy) Wildman, Bobby (Special friend Michelle) Wildman, Andy (Amy) Wildman, Charmin (Joe) Sanders; Father and Mother In-Law, Fain and Evelyn Yearty; Brother In-Law, Erran (Leslie) and many nieces and nephews.
