Mr. Thomas Benjamin Spell, affectionately known as "Tony", age 74, of Holly Hill, entered into rest Thursday morning, August 14, 2025, at The Manor Retirement Community in Florence. He was the devoted husband of the late Mrs. Lila Smith Spell with whom he shared fifty-two years of love and marriage.

Born December 25, 1950, in Charleston, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Thomas Bryant Spell and the late Louise Simmons Spell. He received a Bachelor Degree in Business from The Baptist College, now known as Charleston Southern University. With a career spanning more than thirty years as an insurance agent, he began in the early 1990's with Liberty Life Insurance Company before assuming a role with Columbian Financial Group as a representative for their preneed burial insurance division. Tony became a familiar and well-loved figure among funeral homes throughout South Carolina and neighboring states. Known for his warm smile and reassuring presence, Tony's trademark phrase, "I'll take care of it," was more than just words, it was a promise he always kept. As a valued member and vendor of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association, Tony was a steadfast supporter, attending annual conferences and group meetings without fail, and offering his unwavering encouragement to the profession he so deeply respected. He was a member of Holly Hill First Baptist Church, where over the years, he was active in many aspects of the church's work. He enjoyed playing golf at The Holly Hill Country Club and fishing in the Edisto River. Tony was deeply devoted to his family and loved spending time with them.

Surviving are: his son, Austin Thomas Spell and his wife Jennifer of Florence; a sister, Sybil Spell Griffin and her husband Steve of Walterboro; and three sisters-in-law, Kim Wright Spell of Gilbert, Judy Smith Alden of Charleston, and Phyllis Smith Connelly of Edisto Island. There are two grandchildren, Tyler Spell and Jaxon Spell; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Archie Irvin Spell.

Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has requested that memorials be directed in his memory to: Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105; or donate at: www.stjude.org.
