Tony Shutts, Sr., 95, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025.

He was born November 20, 1929 in St. Joseph to James and Cresia (Head) Shutts.

Tony married Betty Lou Kelly on November 10, 1945. She preceded him death on March 31, 2000.

He worked at Swift & Co. then began a long career as a truck driver, first for Crouch Brothers in 1957, then later he drove for ABF Freight Systems, retiring in 1994.

Tony was a longtime member of Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church, 32nd Degree Mason #376 Scottish Rite, and Southside Sertoma.

He coached little League and Pony League Baseball in his younger years. Later, he was an avid golfer and card player. Tony also enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Betty Lou; his parents; and five siblings.

Survivors include his children, Larry Shutts (Katherine), Tony Shutts, Jr. (Sharon), and Terry Good (David); grandchildren, Steven Shutts, David Shutts, Christopher Shutts, Matthew Shutts, Ryan Good, and Neely Carpenter; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 16, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of the donor's choice.
