Mr. Leonard Tony Stowers, age 68 passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at St. Mary's Healthcare System in Athens.
Tony was born on October 5, 1956 to the late Johnnie and Vivian Stowers. He graduated from Franklin County High School at the age of 16. He then attended Warm Springs College. Many saw him as a person of limited abilities, but family and friends saw and treated him as an unlimited human being. No matter what he went through, he never gave up on God. He always had a friendly, happy and upbeat spirit. Tony was a man who loved and respected people and they loved and respected him back.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Erica Lynn Stowers- Williams, Johnny Garzarra Stowers and Alan Turman.
Left to cherish his memories are his two aunts Edna Roebuck and Annette Merritt, his nephews: Eric and Jordan Williams, Alan Turman Jr.; two nieces: Wanda Sutton and Tiny Hill, god-sister Glenda Handy and god-brother Christavious Montogmery, his loving and attentive special caregivers, Nelson and Paulette Montgomery along with a host of cousins/friends William Merritt, Sonny Stowers, and Junior Fortson.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening, January 31, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 2:00pm at St. Mary's CME Church located at 268 Baker Street, Royston GA 30662. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Royston, GA.
