Tony Lee Tyson passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, at the age of 51 surrounded by his family at ECU Health Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie W. Tyson and Doris Vandiford Tyson, as well as his brother, Johnnie Tyson, Jr.
Tony was a devoted husband to Paula Warren Tyson, for 19 remarkable years. Together, they built a life full of laughter and cherished moments. He was a proud and loving father to his children, Nicholas Tyson, Tyler Stewart and Riley Stewart, and grandfather to his beloved grandson, Nolan Tyson. Also surviving is his brother, Raymond Tyson and wife Sharon.
For 26 years, Tony was a loyal and respected employee at Smithson, Inc. in Rocky Mount, NC. His colleagues knew him as a dedicated professional, always ready with a helping hand or a friendly word. Tony was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses at the age of 16 and remained faithful until his death.
Tony's passion for playing golf was more than just a hobby; it was a way for him to connect with friends and enjoy the beauty of nature.
Those who knew Tony will remember him as a loving, friendly, and thoughtful individual. His ability to make each person he met feel valued and important was a rare gift.
As we say goodbye to Tony Lee Tyson, we celebrate the extraordinary life he led and the countless ways he enriched our lives. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Tony's memory will be cherished and honored by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
The Tyson family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time. Tony's life will be commemorated on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 3:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 600 E. 11th Street Goldsboro, NC. With Michael Reid officiating.
