Tonya Lou Alexander Ferrell, 66, of Owensboro, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was born in Owensboro to the late James A. and Irene Pugh Alexander. 

 Tonya was a 1976 graduate of Owensboro High and earned a degree in nursing at Kentucky Wesleyan. She was a registered nurse and enjoyed working in surgery, where she spent most of her 38-year career. Mrs. Ferrell loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and plants. Tonya was an animal lover and did rescue work. She was very patriotic. She had a passion for cooking and watched many hours of the Cooking Network. Most of all, Tonya loved looking out for her family, especially her children and grandchildren. 

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Capt. James F. Alexander, USMC.

 Mrs. Ferrell is survived by her husband of 33 years, Bobby Ferrell; children, Joshua McDonald (Sarah), David Ferrell (Betsy), Sarah Briggs (James), Brandon Ferrell, and Rebecca Riley (Joseph); sixteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Bill Alexander (Pam); a sister-in-law, Tomi Alexander; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

 The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 11 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
