Tori Michelle Black, 48, of Plainfield, NJ, transitioned from this life on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Born and raised in Plainfield, Tori was educated in the Plainfield school system and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1994.
Tori later attended Cittone Institute, earning a certificate in office administration. She went on to create a successful recruitment business, Brian Michael Associates, which she ran for several years before choosing to step back from the business world to fully embrace motherhood after the birth of her second daughter. Throughout her life, she worked in various office roles, with her final position being at HK Trucking in South Plainfield.
Tori was known for her warm heart and generous spirit, often giving more to others than she received. Despite life's challenges, her kindness and selflessness never wavered. She absolutely adored her grandchildren, often spoiling them with love and attention. Christmas was her favorite holiday-she cherished decorating, baking, and showering her family with thoughtful gifts.
As an amazing decorator, Tori dreamed of starting her own real estate business, combining her love for design with her natural gift for making spaces beautiful. Above all, she was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, family member, and friend. Tori will be forever missed for her witty humor, contagious laugh, and beautiful smile.
Tori was predeceased by her beloved son, Brian Jr.; her sister, Monique Black; her paternal grandparents, Alvin and Frieda Black; her maternal grandfather, John Duhart; her maternal aunt, Kim Duhart; her paternal aunt, Darlene Black; and her paternal uncles, Alvin Black Jr. and Glenn Black.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Briante and Michaela Mauldin, and Jade (Shamar Mason); her parents, Barbara Jackson and Michael Black Sr.; her brother, Michael (Nicole) Black Jr.; and her sister, Brittany (James) Murray. She also leaves behind her maternal grandmother, Marion Duhart, aunts, Cynthia and Stacy Duhart, Valerie Black, and Rosalyn Riley; her cherished grandchildren, Cassidy, Camiyah, and Cammryn Mason, and Isaiah Manns; and a host of cousins, extended family, and dear friends
