Toxie "Sonny" Wiley White Jr

February 27, 1936 – August, 21, 2025

Toxie "Sonny" Wiley White Jr. went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 21, 2025, after a battle with kidney cancer at a Dallas Hospice facility.

Toxie, the only child of Reverend Toxie Wiley White Sr. and Louise Clark, was born February 27, 1936, at home in Corpus Christi, Texas at 4.2 lbs. His father attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, where Toxie graduated Bob Jones High School and later attended Bob Jones University alongside his father, while his mother taught school.

After leaving Greenville, Toxie attended Le Tourneau Technical Institute in Longview, Texas, learning about IBM programming. Toxie then enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado for basic training. While in training he met his future wife, Carmen Charlotte Davis, who had been visiting her brother, Charles Davis, a friend of Toxie. They were married on February 7, 1960 in Houston and then immediately stationed at Fort Brooke Army Base, San Juan, Puerto Rico. While in San Juan, they had their first child, Todd Anthony White in September 1961.

Toxie was honorably discharged in January 1962, after being trained in IBM programming, and moved to Houston, Texas. In March 1963 they had their second child, Charlotte Rene' White.

The family then moved to Dallas for a short time before buying a house in Irving, Texas in 1965. While working for Service Bureau Corporation (SBC), a division of IBM, they were relocated to San Jose, California in 1968 for 2 ½ years and returned back to their house in Irving. After leaving SBC and along with 6 others men started a company for managing payroll but the business did not take off. He then went to work for the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank where he continued to work as a computer programmer. Toxie and Carmen divorced in 1978. After leaving the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank he went to work for an EDS division which later became Fiserv IntegraSys in Plano, Texas. Toxie retired after 50 years in programming.

While attending First Baptist Dallas, Toxie met and married his wife of 41 years, Janet A. Roberts on January 7, 1984. Eighteen days later, Rene' White Creel (Robert) gave birth to Toxie's first granddaughter, April Rene'. Then in August 1991 Rene' gave Toxie his second granddaughter, Amber Rose.

Toxie and Janet loved to travel abroad and domestically. Toxie loved to fly fish, hunt and play games, especially pinochle, which he sometimes did three times a week in Plano, Texas.

Toxie was preceded in death by his father, Toxie Sr., his mother Louise White and his daughter, Rene' Creel.

He is survived by his wife, Janet A. White of Plano, Texas; son Todd A. White of Houston, Texas; granddaughters April Creel of Gainesville, Texas and Amber Creel of Whitesboro, Texas; great granddaughters J'Lee, Jaida and Jeorja Barnette; great grandsons Preston W. Creel and Samuel "Sam" Villalobos and two great-great grandchildren; along with many cousins and extended family members.
