With hearts full of love, we celebrate the homecoming of Tracy Carlene Duncan, who entered her eternal rest on November 15, 2025. Born in Greenville, Texas on March 24, 1964, Tracy brought light, strength, and unwavering faith into the world. She passed peacefully in Dallas at the T. Boone Pickens Hospice Center after facing glioblastoma with the same courage and grace that defined her life.
Tracy was a cherished daughter of Nita Carlene and Robert Arvel Duncan, who preceded her in death, and a beloved sister to Carl Wayne Garrett and Shannon Garrett, Robert Arvel Duncan Jr. and Christina Duncan, Paige Leigh Clark and Chris Clark, and Kelly Lyn Bond and Bradley Bond.
She also deeply loved and was adored by her many nieces and nephews: Sean Wayne Garrett, Chad Michael Garrett and Jessica Garrett, Amber Kay Denson, Matthew Wayne Clark, Ashleigh Carlene Moore and Garrett Moore, Sarah Rose Poling and Steve Poling, Robert Beck Duncan, Cate Margaret Duncan, Bailey-Paige Engle Wright and Hunter Wright, Jacob Scott Lowe, Addison Rose Marie Bond, Carter James Deen Bond, Emery Alaire Berlyn Bond, and Case Deen Richard Bond.
Tracy's professional life was marked by excellence and vision. After early success at Tellabs, she reunited with a former leader in 2015 to join the Ciena family as a Business Operations Leader (Chief of Staff). Her impact was immediate and lasting. Within a year, she transitioned into Global Commodity Management, where she oversaw more than $500M in annual spend on critical optical components. Tracy excelled leading her team for over seven years, driving major cost-reduction and dual-sourcing initiatives, and earning deep respect across the organization. Her influence was so strong that colleagues affectionately referred to her team as the "Duncan Mafia." In 2023, she stepped into a new role managing commercial relationships with contract manufacturers, approaching yet another challenge with her trademark drive and strategic mind. Even as illness emerged, Tracy pushed forward with resilience, determination, and a passion for her work that inspired all who knew her.
Tracy lived with extraordinary courage whether navigating global business challenges or facing the hardest battle of her life. Her Christian faith guided everything she did, shaping her generous heart, her strength, and her unwavering belief in doing things right the first time.
She found joy in the simple treasures of life: her dog Perry, the peace she felt at the beach, shopping, and traveling. To the world, she was a powerful and respected professional. To her family and friends, she was someone who listened, laughed, encouraged, and always showed up with her whole heart to get the job done.
Among those who loved her most were the Fab 5, who adored her beyond measure. They will forever remember her hilarious, quick-witted nature, that unmistakable Duncan spirit she carried so boldly, and the way she somehow remained forever young in her energy, her humor, and her heart. Tracy made life fun, even in the hard moments, and the Fab 5 will hold tight to the memories, the laughter, and the love she poured into each of them.
Her legacy continues through the people she shaped, the relationships she strengthened, and the countless lives she touched. As we say goodbye to a remarkable woman, we hold tightly to the example she set and the light she leaves behind.
