Tracy William Esplin passed away peacefully and unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, October 10, 2023, just a few days after knee replacement surgery.
Tracy was born on August 4, 1970, in
Cedar City, Utah, to Ken William Esplin and Dayle Stevens Esplin.
He grew up as the fun and loving youngest child of three. He attended the East Elementary School, Cedar Junior High, and Cedar High School, graduating as a proud Redmen. Later in life he graduated from Southern Utah University with a bachelor of science in history–a degree he was extremely proud of–having worked many years as a UPS delivery driver and fuel tanker driver.
After high school, Tracy enlisted in the Utah National Guard and went to Basic Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was trained as a fire direction specialist and served in C Battery 2-222 Field Artillery in
St. George, Utah, until a duty-related injury caused him to leave the Guard long before he wanted to. Tracy loved serving and has been an avid supporter of his father, brother, and nephew, who all served or still serve in the Utah National Guard.
In 1993 Tracy married Alisha Hatch of
Panguitch, Utah. Together they had four beautiful daughters, Madison, Shelby and Mckenzie (twins), and Tessa. As life often throws stumbling blocks in the road, Tracy and Alisha divorced in 2005.
Tracy was blessed to find the love of his life, Brenda Bettridge Fausett of Parowan. They were married in August 2007, and he immediately gained another sweet daughter Camri.
Tracy has been a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, having served in many callings, including as a missionary to the Connecticut-Hartford Mission.
If you're looking for Tracy, you'll find him outdoors in new boots, fishing with his girls. Join him at Kolob or Oak Valley Ranch. He'll have lunch for you.
If Tracy is fixing your car stereo, come back in an hour, and he'll have the hood popped, the doors open, and the seats on the driveway. Not to worry. Having had five teenage daughters, Tracy has had extensive experience with repairs, remodeling, baking, building, chauffering, and chaperoning. And don't ask. Tracy would take longer to explain than to put it all back together.
If you need a trivia partner, call Tracy. If he doesn't know the last major battle of WWII (unlikely), his second-best-friend, "Hey, Google," will shortly enlighten you both. And then you can banter about, well, almost anything.
Tracy is survived by his wife, Brenda (Bettridge) Fausett Esplin; parents, Ken and Dayle (Stevens) Esplin; mother-in-law, Geraldene Bettridge; brother, Steve (Tulsi) Esplin; sister, Julidawn (Dale) Corry; daughters, Madi (Chase) Halterman, Shelby (Will) Jacobson, Mckenzie Esplin, Tessa Esplin, and Camri (Mike) Hepworth; sister-in-law Adele (Kim) Lloyd; brothers-in-law, Chad (Amy) Bettridge and Dave (Aislinn) Bettridge; grandchildren, Arzy, Laynee, Luxe, Scout, Wells, Harlee, and Phoebe. Tracy was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Dale Bettridge.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parowan West building. Additional viewing time will be on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Parowan City Cemetery.
