Travis Don Powers, passed away on August 26th, 2025, at the age of 59. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, on June 1st 1966, he spent most of his life in Old Bridge NJ, where he was known for his diesel mechanic skills, and his unyielding love of the Las Vegas Raiders and the NJ Devils. Whether it was a game day or casual conversation about the latest scores, he brought an energy and enthusiasm that will be sorely missed. Travis began his career in 1984 at Mini Max Trucking in Edison, NJ, before moving on to be head mechanic of various trucking companies for the next decade. The highlight of Travis' career came when he joined the Local One Elevator Union in NY. It may be said that a part of Travis was forever changed when the tragedy of 9-11 occurred, and he was asked to serve for several weeks in Ground Zero clean up. Travis is survived by two wonderful daughters, Kayla Ernst, devoted daughter Kimberly Powers, and their mother, his former wife, Barbara Ringled. He was a loving son, survived by his mother, Errell Krug. Travis is also survived by his two grandchildren, Owen and Kendyl Ernst. Travis is predeceased by his father, Paul Powers, and loving brother, Shane Powers. We take comfort in imagining their reunion now. Travis spent his final days in Tuckerton, NJ surrounded by his cherished family, while cancer unfortunately pulled him away. The family would like to acknowledge all those who have been a part of Travis' life in all the ways a person can be. Special thanks to those involved in his hospice services and to his dear sister-in-law, Linda Powers' for sharing her home with him. May his daughter Kimberly, and her partner Erik (Henry,) know that ''Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; but love leaves a memory no one can steal,'' as they remember their special bond to Travis. For those wishing to pay their respects, funeral services will be held this Saturday August 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals & Cremation Services Inc., located at 111 Main St, Matawan, NJ. Travis will then immediately after be laid to rest in Old Tennent Cemetery located at 454 Tennent Rd. Manalapan N.J. Friends and family are welcome to join in to say their final goodbyes. He leaves behind memories of a man who tackled life with the same passion he had for the game. His easy-going nature and ability to pull a chuckle out of anyone will be remembered by all who knew him. May his spirit ride with the wind and his laughter echo in our hearts.
