Gaetano Gatti, 84, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Palo del Colle, Bari, Italy, on January 24, 1941, to the late Domenico and Rosa Gatti (Guarnieri). Gaetano was one of eight children. From a young age, he learned the value of hard work perseverance and principles that would guide him throughout his life. At just eight years old, he began learning masonry, a trade that became both his passion and lifelong livelihood.
When he met his wife, Rosa Portento, in Palo, it was clear that God had already written something beautiful for their lives. They were wed on April 8, 1969 in Bari, Italy and soon after, their American dream began.
Gaetano and Rosa built a beautiful life and family together. They raised their children surrounded by love, tradition, and the warmth of authentic Italian meals. Gaetano worked tirelessly to provide for his family and instilled in his children the same values of hard work, dedication, and integrity that had shaped his own life. His greatest joy was ensuring a better future for his children and grandchildren.
Family was everything to Gaetano, he never missed a gathering. When he wasnt spending time with his family, you could always find him watching his beloved AC Milan or Italian National Team. As a proud and loving Nonno, he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, whose laughter and energy brought him endless happiness.
Gaetano is predeceased by his parents, Domenico and Rosa Gatti (Guarnieri). He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Rosa Gatti, his daughter Rosa and her husband Kenneth, his sons Dominick and his wife Jennifer, and Gaetano Jr. and his wife Jacquelyn. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Isabella Bednarz, Samantha Bednarz, Luke Gatti, Arturo Gatti, Gaetano Gatti III, and Edith Gatti.
Gaetano will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, hard work, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
