Trenton Haney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Koch Funeral Home, LLC - Gnadenhutten on Sep. 28, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Trenton Raymond Haney, 14 of Gnadenhutten, Ohio, is now telling jokes with Jesus. Born February 9, 2011, to parents Ryan and Debbie Haney, Trenton passed away peacefully at Akron Children's Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

In addition to his parents, Trenton is survived by his sister, Gracie Haney, and brother, Koy Haney; grandparents, Ray and Wilma Robinson (Gnadenhutten, Ohio), Vickie and Russ Crim (New Philadelphia, Ohio), and Rose Haney (Stonecreek, Ohio), and his besties Lilly, Bradley, Keenan, and Kameron, as well as numerous friends and family. He has joined his grandpa, Ronnie Haney, in heaven.

Trenton was a true believer in Jesus, and his church family at Dennison Foursquare Church welcomed him the moment he walked through their doors. Through their support, Trenton decided to become baptized and was able to express his love for the Lord in the presence of Pastor Rod and Pastor Susan before his passing.

Trenton began to love sports as soon as his little arms could hold a bat and ball. He played baseball for the Gnadenhutten Little League for many years and then picked up a golf club and fell in love. He was also a member of the Indian Valley golf team. One of his favorite topics to discuss with people was Ohio State and Seattle Seahawks football. He was able to attend the "big game" for Ohio State in 2022 and then fulfilled his dream of attending a Seahawks game in Seattle this season.

Trenton never met a stranger, and his presence had a positive impact on everyone he knew. No matter how difficult the situation, he would smile and tell a joke. During his cancer treatments, he would spend time quoting Gabriel Iglesias with his nurses or telling jokes to his transport buddy Evan. He loved everyone at Akron Children's, but made a special bond with his surgeon, Nate "Waldo" Heinzerling.

Throughout his life, Trenton was giving to others, whether it was through a smile, a laugh, or gifts. As his last selfless act, he donated his sight to two others. To continue his act of giving, the family will establish a scholarship fund for Indian Valley Students entering the healthcare field.

A celebration of life will be held at Dennison Foursquare Church, 7325 US-250, Dennison, Ohio 44621 on October 5, 2025, at 6 pm. The family requests that attendees wear their favorite high school, college, or NFL football team shirt (except for Michigan). In place of flowers, please consider a donation to the Trenton Haney Memorial Scholarship Fund, 8650 Robin Road SW, Gnadenhutten, OH 44629.
