Trenton Todd “Tiny” Varner, 36, of Head Waters, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022 as the result of an automobile accident.

He was born May 15, 1986, the oldest son of Steven Eugene and Trenda Mae (Malcolm) Varner.

A 2004 graduate of Highland High School, Tiny was employed with Lakeside Book Company as a machine operator. He attended Destiny Family Center Church.

A selfless, genuine soul, Tiny had an easy-going approach to life. His gentle spirit and caring heart led him to meet his many friends, whom he cherished and considered extended family. An avid gamer, he also enjoyed truck pulls, drag racing, the NY Yankees, Tennessee Titans, WVU football and most of all, picking on his little brother. Above all, he will be remembered as the big guy with a bigger heart. As one friend said, “whether you knew him for an hour, or years, he left a lasting “big” impression.”

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his girlfriend, Kaitlyn Higgins of Lexington; brother, Isaac Varner of Head Waters; maternal grandmother, Charlotte “Gammy” McCray of Crozet; paternal grandparents, Elmo and Orpha Varner of Head Waters; aunt, Jaunda Holsinger and husband, Terry of Dayton; uncles, Gallan Malcolm of Monterey, Victor Malcolm and fiancée, Tammi of Sanford, NC, Glen Varner of Lexington; cousins, Josh Simmons, Kayla Armstrong, Brandon and Brian Malcolm, Kendal Malcolm, Derek Koebernic and Dylan Varner; as well as a large circle of friends.

He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Charlotte Grey Varner; and his maternal grandfather, “Pop,” Charlie McCray.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Obaugh Funeral Home with pastors Chuck Balsamo and Ronnie Breen officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Friday, December 9th at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Head Waters Cemetery, c/o Elmo Varner, 14952 Highland Turnpike, Head Waters, Va. 24442.
