Tressy Samuel Obituary

Tressy was raised in a Christian home and united with Sylvania Heights First Baptist Church on November 12, 1972. She was among the many children who would run to Sunday School and any other time the church doors were open. She never lost hope and kept her faith and love for God. The 23rd Psalms was among her favorite scriptures highlighted in her Bibles.
After graduating from Fort Walton Beach High School in 1979, she met and married her first love, the late Douglas Samuel. To their union, one son, Edric Samuel was born. Shortly thereafter, the young family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in early 1980. They lived there for over forty years.
Tressy was employed with Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance Company (later renamed to Medical Mutual). She worked as a customer service representative for over thirty-five years, retiring in March, 2020, after the death of her late husband. She moved back to Florida to help care for her parents.
Cherished memories will linger in the heart of her son, Edric Samuel; mother, Martha A. Rodgers, (one) brother, Roderick Rodgers; (three) sisters, Sharona Henry (Fritz), Tonya Robinson (Rufus), and Ingrid Rodgers, all of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; aunts and uncles: Mary Chatman, Eunice Ricks (William), Marvin Rodgers (Willie Mae), Betty Rodgers, MacAuthor Rodgers, and Rose, all of the Washington, D.C. area; Dr. Ira Harmon (Loretta) of Jacksonville, FL, Robert Harmon (Betty) of Tampa, FL, Daniel Harmon (Rebecca) of Louisville, KY, and Elouise Harmon, of FWB, FL, (three) sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Hart, Deborah Green, and Anita Lewis, all of Tampa, FL; (four) grandchildren, Edric, Jr., Samira, Bryce, and Levi, all of Cleveland, Ohio; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

I worked with Tressy for all her (our) years at Medical Mutual of Ohio (formerly Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Ohio). I met her husband when I purchased a house and had water issues while he worked for the Water Department. When I had an issue with a claim, I spoke with Tressy and we talked about the help her husband provided me. They were both such sweet people! My prayers and condolences go out to your entire family!
