Trevor Charles Hansen, of Syracuse, Utah, age 37, passed away unexpectedly on June 28, 2025, in Layton, Utah, from complications related to a surgery. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. He is survived by his husband, Jacob Strain, his 2 dog-babies, Luna and Neville, his father, Arden Hansen, his sisters, Courtney Grimnes, Randi Wood, Melissa Hansen, and his brother, Shaun Hansen. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elva Lynn Hansen, and his sister, Janay Hansen.

Trevor was born on December 17, 1987, to Arden and Lynn Hansen in Santa Maria, California. When he was 9 years old, his family moved to Utah, where they still reside. From an early age, Trevor discovered a love of singing and theater. Performing all through his youth and high school years, he continued showcasing his talents at the CenterPoint Legacy Theater in Centerville, Utah. There he performed roles such as LeFou in “Beauty and the Beast”, Leaf Coneybear in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, Child Catcher in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”, Prince Charming in “Into the Woods”, Store Manager in “Elf”, and a Brother from “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”, among other roles.

Trevor took a chance on love and met someone new on July 28, 2019, at the Layton Starbucks. After their drinks, dinner, a trip to the park to continue talking, and a lost wallet, Jacob Strain quickly became a permanent fixture in Trevor’s life. Their friendship easily blossomed into love, and after more than 5 years together, on October 5, 2024, Trevor and Jacob expressed their happiness and desire to share their lives together by being married in front of their family and friends at The Foundry in Uintah, Utah. About Jacob, Trevor once said, “He’s my biggest cheerleader and biggest supporter. I love you with all my heart, Jake. I couldn’t have asked for a more amazing partner”.

Trevor was attending school at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, where he was thriving academically. During his semesters there, he achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average, earning his name on the Weber State Provost’s List. Much to Trevor’s amazement and joy, just this month he learned he had been accepted into the Bachelor of Social Work program. His goal was to be a Social Worker and to specifically help LGBTQ+ teens.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday July 10, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Family and friends may visit Wednesday July 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations made in Trevor’s honor to The Trevor Project (https://give.thetrevorproject.org), an organization striving to end suicide among LGBTQ+ young people.
