Troy Allen Langfeld, 55, of D'Hanis, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. A loving husband, devoted father, exceptional teacher and coach, and dedicated farmer, Troy left an unforgettable impact on every life he touched. He was born on May 4, 1969, in Hondo, Texas, to Joseph Charles and Joan Carle Langfeld. Troy grew up in D'Hanis, where he spent his youth exploring town with his cousins and playing football with his dad and brother-where everything turned into a competition with Joby. He and his sister, Missy, rushed home at lunchtime to watch as much Days of Our Lives as they could before heading back to school. Wearing his Steelers helmet, Troy and his mom shared a love for watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play football whenever they could. Troy loved sports and spent hours practicing baseball and shooting baskets. He graduated as Valedictorian from D'Hanis High School in 1987. He attended Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics in 1992 and a Master of Education in Agricultural Education from Southwest Texas State University in 1994. Troy returned to his hometown in January of 1995 and briefly worked in banking before beginning teaching and coaching at D'Hanis ISD-a calling that would span 29 years. He taught accounting, economics, business math, world geography, keyboarding, and marketing. He served as head football coach for 19 years, assistant baseball coach for 29 years, and coached tennis, golf, and basketball. Troy was particularly proud of the success of his UIL Accounting Teams over the last decade. His steady leadership, compassion, and encouragement earned him deep respect among students, athletes, educators, and the entire community. Outside the classroom, Troy was a devoted family man and farmer. Troy married Robin Price on June 14, 1998. Together, they raised two beloved daughters in D'Hanis. They spent their time caring for their girls, having dinner together in the evenings, sitting on the porch, and enjoying the company of one another. Troy and Robin shared a unique calling and devotion to their girls. He was a loving and patient dad who cherished simple moments. He loved driving around town with the Top Gun soundtrack turned up loud, and found pure joy in any time he could spend on a tractor. He found peace and purpose in working long hours alongside his brother-committed to the land and his family. He also served as a crop insurance agent for Wadkins & Associates Insurance for the past few years. Troy was a jokester, always ready with a story or a laugh. Troy used humor to connect with the people he loved in various ways in the classroom and in his everyday life to keep us all laughing and smiling. When you walked into a room, Troy made you feel welcome. He was always willing to speak to strangers, share his smile, and make you feel like you were his friend. He cared deeply about others. As the "fun coach," he taught young people more than just how to win-he taught them how to live with character. He will forever be remembered for his love of Little House on the Prairie, the Pittsburgh Steelers, his engaging smile, his terrible (but hilarious) jokes, and his unforgettable laugh. Troy is survived by his wife, Robin Langfeld, and their daughters, Bryn Alane Langfeld and Briley Grace Langfeld; his mother, Joan Langfeld; his sister, Melissa "Missy" Huggins, and her husband, Harold; his brother, Joseph "Joby" Langfeld and his wife, Kerri; his mother-in-law, Cherylene Price; sister-in-law, Shellane King; and brother-in-law, Robert Price. He was the best uncle to his many nieces and nephews: Emily Soderdahl and husband Brett (and their daughters Grace and Nora), Eric Huggins, Emile Huggins, Elise Huggins, Miles Langfeld, Luke Langfeld, Kater King, Kanada White and husband Dalton (and their children Steelie and Sterling), Julianna Price, and William Price. He is also remembered by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide community of friends, former students, and athletes whose lives were made better by his presence. Troy was preceded in death by his father, Joseph "Joe" Langfeld, and his father-in-law, Robert Price. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in D'Hanis. The Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the D'Hanis High School Gymnasium. Guests may pay their respects beginning at 1:30 p.m. Troy will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery following the service (graveside is for family only). A meal and time of fellowship will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Parish Hall. Pallbearers: Eric Huggins, Emile Huggins, Miles Langfeld, Luke Langfeld, Kater King, William Price, McLeod Cameron, and Patrick Hitzfelder. In lieu of flowers, a memorial scholarship fund has been created at Vantage Bank Texas, 1401 19th Street, Hondo TX 78861. Contributions may be made or mailed to the bank with checks payable to the "Troy Langfeld Memorial Scholarship Fund." You are also welcome to donate to any cause meaningful to you in Troy's name as a way to honor his generous spirit and lasting impact. Though his passing leaves an unfillable space in our hearts, we will carry forward his legacy of kindness, generosity, service, and love. Guinn-Horger
