Troy was born September 3, 1972 to Sharon Shelton and Delbert Baltzell. Troy is survived by his father, Delbert Baltzell, Sr. and bonus mother, Debbie Baltzell of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Jacque Diaz and husband, Rafeal Diaz of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Bobbie Stone of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Heath Shown of Elgin, Illinois; brother, Delbert Baltzell, Jr. and wife, Brandi Baltzell of Mount Vernon, Illinois; brother, Levi Baltzell of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Andrew Baltzell of San Antonio, Texas; niece, Hailey Shown of Elgin, Illinois; niece, Aiyana Wallace of RAF Lakenhealth Base, Suffolk, England; nephew, Dominic Baltzell of San Antonio, Texas; nephew, Myles Baltzell and wife, Linzie Baltzell of Crestview, Florida; nephew, Joe Buchanan III and son, Jayce Buchanan of Mount Vernon, Illinois; nephew, Ayden Buchanan of Mount Vernon; and several cousins and friends.
Troy was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Shelton; grandfather, Buck Shelton; grandmother, Jean Shelton; grandfather Ray Baltzell; grandmother, Florence Baltzell; uncle, David Shelton; and uncle, Everett Baltzell.
Troy had an outgoing spirit. He never met a stranger, known for his sense of humor and he knew it. Troy graduated Larkin High School in Elgin, Illinois in 1991 and joined the US Marine Corp in February 1992, where he got the opportunity to travel the world.
Troy had an amazing zest for life. He worked hard, played hard, and loved hard. He adored his family and friends, and lets not forget his love for his teams: the Cubs, the Blackhawks, and the Bears. He rarely ever missed a game.
Troy was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Until we meet again.
A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Smith Cemetery in Belle Rive, Illinois. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately at the American Legion in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
