Brother Troy Styers, 53, of Grand Junction, Tennessee, passed away on August 31, 2025. Born on February 16, 1972, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Troy lived a life marked by unwavering faith, deep devotion to his family, and a passion for ministry.
Troy graduated from Kirby High School in 1990 and went on to earn his degree from the University of Memphis in 1996. He further pursued his calling by completing his seminary education at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in 2002. At the time of his passing, he was diligently working toward his doctorate - a testament to his lifelong commitment to learning and spiritual growth.
A devoted Christian from an early age, Troy accepted Christ as a child and later answered the call to ministry. He was ordained and served faithfully as a pastor, dedicating his life to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. He currently served as Pastor of First Baptist Grand Junction. His passion for ministry was evident in every aspect of his life; he served tirelessly with the hope that all would come to know the love and salvation found in Christ.
Troy is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kristy; two daughters, Hannah and Abigail; parents, Tom and Marilyn Styers; sister, Denise Hussein and husband Magdy; nephews, Chris (Alex) and Sam (Lindsay) Hussein; brother-in-law, Scott (Emily) Ware; nephew, Ben; and niece, Caroline. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Thelma Styers; maternal grandparents, John and Alexa Carter; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ken and Marilyn Ware.
Outside of ministry, Troy found joy in spending time with his family. He was his girls' biggest cheerleader in all aspects of their lives. Some of their best times were spent in the car singing and acting crazy. His love and teaching helped mold them into the young ladies that they are today. Troy enjoyed all things sports - especially cheering on his Memphis Tigers. He also cherished time spent fishing with his daughter or friends. These moments brought him great happiness and demonstrated the warmth he shared with those closest to him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 182,
