NANCY HOLMES
Henderson, TN: Nancy Ann Hopper Holmes, age 77, passed away September 7, 2025, at her home.
She was born September 1, 1948, in Henderson, and grew up in the Chickasaw Park Area at Deanburg, the daughter of the late James Clarence and Dollie Howell Hopper. She attended school at Deanburg and graduated from Chester County High School in 1966. She married Joe Holmes. They made their home at Laurel Hill since 1967.
She had been a cook at East Elementary School for twenty-four years, retiring in 2010.
They were members of the Hickory Corner Community Center and was very active members in the Little Hatchie Primitive Baptist Church. She loved to cook and was always concerned everybody got fed.
She enjoyed reading books, word puzzles, board games, card games and she liked to learn French.
She was also a Mary Kay Consultant.
Mrs. Holmes is survived by her husband, Joe Clois Holmes, Jr, a son, Bryon Holmes and a daughter, Cheryl Holmes all of Henderson; two grandchildren, Kiera Staggs and Gavin Tice and a brother, Clifton Hopper of Truman, AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard Hopper.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Elder Steve Leggett officiating. Burial will follow at Little Hatchie Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday.
