She was born on August 4, 1938, the daughter of the late Elbert Gay and Gertrude Merrilees.
Trudy graduated from Binghamton High School, Class of 1956, and Syracuse University with a BA in Music, class of 1960.
She was employed at St. Pauls United Methodist Church, Valley Drive Syracuse, for over 45 years, retiring in 2019. She was also an organist for many other churches in the Syracuse area. She also worked as a real estate agent for Gallagher and Pat Tom Real Estate.
She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, the American Guild of Organists, and the Bernie Schmidt Singers.
In 1962, in Binghamton, NY, she married William A. Butler, a union that lasted until 1974.
She was predeceased in death by her son David W. Butler, who lived in Akron, OH, at the time of his passing.
Survivors include her son, Andrew G. Butler, of Oneida, NY; daughter-in-law, Gina C. Butler; grandson, Wade Butler; granddaughter, Ainsley Butler; grandson, Reece Butler.
Services will be announced in the spring.
