Twila Worley Capps, 63, of Goldsboro, N.C. passed away at her home on
Friday, July 12, 2024. She was born on October 21, 1960 to the late Jesse Elton Worley and Jean Krause Worley. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carrie Gleland Capps and her brother, Jesse Worley, Jr.
Growing up in a military family, Twila always lovingly referred to herself as a military brat. Living in Germany, New Mexico, Florida and Maine at different air force bases, she quickly learned how to strike up conversation with anyone. She had the kindest spirit and never knew a stranger.
Her family eventually planted roots at the family farm in Princeton, NC where she would become a member of Progressive Presbyterian Church. She rarely missed a Sunday, but Wednesday night prayer meetings quickly became a favorite. This is where she would meet Steve, the love of her life, when she was only 16 years old. They eventually wed in June of 1979 and their relationship grew to be one built on the most pure, genuine love.
For 25 years, Twila worked alongside Dr. VC Motaparthy helping to manage his practice in Goldsboro, NC. But above all, she prided herself in being a wife, mother and grandmother. Her nurturing and gentle spirit made caring for others second nature. To know her was to know love.
She had many blessings through her life, but becoming a Maw Maw topped the list. She was extremely influential in raising her two oldest grandchildren, Leighton and Layla.
In 2015 Twila became sick. Her husband Steve, and apple of her eye, without hesitation paused everything in his life to be her caretaker. He would end up being her primary caregiver for the 9 year duration of her illness. It was Steve's greatest honor to love and care for his wife the exact same way she had loved and cared for him for the 45 years they were married. He loved her fiercely and took care of her at a level that was absolutely remarkable.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations with the Reverend Kelley Buffaloe officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations on Monday July 15, 2024.
Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Progressive Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 3790 Progressive Church Road, Princeton, N.C. 27569.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Stephen Capps; daughters, Emily Hopkins (Derek) and Lauren Capps; and grandchildren, Leighton Norris, Layla Tripplet, Ava Hopkins, Tate Hopkins.
The family would also like to say a very special thank you to Mrs. Bernestine Whitehorn, Dr. McCaskill, Mo, Kerri Jo and all the compassionate staff at 3HC of Goldsboro.
Casey Funeral Home & Cremations is honored to serve the Capps Family.
