Twila was preceded in death by her parents, Millard Franklin ("Frank") Hatfield, her siblings Lester Hatfield, Edgar Hatfield, Lloyd Hatfield, David Hatfield, and Freeda (Hatfield) Miracle, and by her husband of 20 years, John C. Navarra.
She is survived by her children Nina (Fattig) Sanders and Larry Sanders, and Robert Fattig and Brenda (Hope) Fattig; and by her stepchildren Deanna Foster and David Navarra. Twila was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren and one step-grandchild, and the cherished great-grandmother of three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren, companion, Bob Coop.
Twila earned her Master's Degree in Education from Ball State University and devoted her professional life to teaching in Perry Township Schools, where she positively influenced generations of students. Her commitment to education, her resilience, and her unwavering love for her family defined her life's work and legacy.
In honor of Twila's love for animals, she requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Boone County Humane Society (hsforbc.org/donate/) or Johnson County Humane Society (hsjc.org/donate)
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Jessen Funeral Home in Whiteland, Indiana. Burial will be at Kerby Knob Baptist Church in McKee, Kentucky.
