Tyler William Baker, age 33, of Ypsilanti Township, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.
Born on February 16, 1992, in Wayne, Michigan, Tyler was the beloved son of Greg and Mary (Johnston) Baker. On April 9, 2022, he married the love of his life, Clairessa Trapp, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Tyler served as a General Manager at Applied Fitness Solutions for 10 years, where his dedication and leadership left a lasting impact.
A natural-born athlete, Tyler excelled in football, basketball, and baseball, competing at the collegiate level. A diehard fan of Detroit sports and Michigan State, his passion for athletics never waned. If he were an animated character, he'd undoubtedly be a superhero; reflecting his strength, loyalty, and the protective love he had for those around him.
He was a devoted friend, a relentless worker, and a proud outdoorsman who found joy in deer hunting. More than anything, Tyler dreamed of being a father and a father figure. His son, Conor, brought that dream to life, and he was excitedly awaiting the arrival of their second child.
Tyler faced his illness with incredible strength and bravery, never allowing it to define him. His courage in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
Tyler is survived by his loving wife, Clairessa Trapp Baker; son, Conor Baker; and their unborn child. He is also survived by his parents, Greg and Mary Baker; brother, Josh (Chelsea) Baker; grandmother, Jean Baker; nieces, Ellie and Reese Baker; nephew, Jack Baker; parents-in-law, Wendy and Ron Trapp and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home, Carleton Chapel on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Carleton United Methodist Church on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Carleton Cemetery, Carleton, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.

Dear Claire,
As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. May God's love and promise of eternal life bring comfort. Tyler is now resting in his eternal peace.

Dear Baker Family,
I was a AFS client prior to Covid and Claire was my trainer. Due to changes in my job I could not continue with the AFS program. I just heard about the heartbreaking and unbelievable things that have happened over the past few years and my heart is beyond broken. Claire is an AMAZING person and trainer and I was so very lucky to have had the chance to learn from her. It is clear Tyler was as well. Please, please know that I am keeping your family in prayer as well as the AFS family now and in the future. I send love to all.

Greg and Mary, no words will ever relieve the pain you are feeling. Time will make it less, but it never leaves. My heart breaks for you both.
You are in my thoughts, as is Claire, Joshua and all the extended family. Rely on them, it helps the most. And remember Tyler touched and helped a lot of people in his years here with us. Hugs to you both.
