Tyler George Obituary
Tyler James George, of Virginia Beach VA, was born on October 26, 1990 in Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on August 28, 2025, at the age of 34. A devoted father, son, brother, boyfriend, uncle and friend, Tyler leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service.
Tyler proudly served his country with a distinguished 10-year career in the United States Navy as a surgical technology corpsman. His commitment to his work reflected his deep sense of duty and compassion for others. He was an honor graduate of Great Lakes Boot Camp, a testament to his determination and skill.
Beyond his professional achievements, Tyler was most passionate about his role as a father to his beloved son, SJ. He was deeply involved in all aspects of SJ's life, coaching him in baseball, football, and soccer. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and spent many days with his son and girlfriend at Phillies, Eagles and Flyers games.
Tyler is survived by his cherished son, SJ; his loving parents, Jim and Becky George; and his devoted girlfriend, Elizabeth Sitarski. He also leaves behind his brothers, Clay George (Katie Williams) of Landenberg, PA, and Aaron George (Kim Siegel) of Kennett Square, PA; aunts and uncles, Cindy George of Elkton, MD, Garry George (Debbie) of Oxford, PA, Elizabeth Hurley of Annapolis, MD, Will Fonshell (Claudette) of Haddonfield, NJ, and Kate Taylor (Ken) of Ardmore, PA; and his grandmother, Connie George of Rio Verde, AZ, along with several cousins. Tyler shared a special bond with Elizabeth's family, including her parents, Charles and Angelika Sitarski, and her brother, Michael Sitarski (Becky).
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dave George, Emma Lou Gray, William R. Fonshell, Jr. LTC Retired, US Army, and Anne Fonshell, as well as his uncle, David George.
A celebration of Tyler's life will be held 3pm Friday, September 5, 2025 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach. Following the service, all are welcome to continue honoring Tyler's memory at Smartmouth Brewing, 1309 Raleigh Avenue, Norfolk, VA.
In keeping with his giving nature, Tyler was an organ donor, ensuring his compassion continued beyond his lifetime. He was deeply committed to the mental health of our veterans. In his honor, please consider making a contribution to the Til Valhalla Project.
Tyler touched many lives with his kindness, strength, and generosity. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
