It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Tyler Cameron Merrill, of Cynthiana, KY, and formerly of Auburn, MA, who passed on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. He was 25 years old.
He was born on July 22, 1999, in Auburn, MA, to Steven Merrill and Charlene Bonzey. Tyler was raised in Auburn, and couldn't wait to enlist in the military – he served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, then the National Guard.
Tyler is survived by his loving parents, Steven (Carolyn) Merrill, and Charlene Bonzey; his devoted wife, Haley Theresa Merrill; his beloved children, Kaine Eual Choate,Eliza Rose Choate, and Harley Lynn Choate; his brothers, Kyle (Stephanie) Merrill, and T. J. (Stephanie) Merrill; his nephew, Callum Elliot Merrill; his grandparents, Ronald and Barbara Bonzey, and Lorna Merrill; his step-siblings, Brad Leger and Rachel Leger; along with Charlene's Goddaughter, Heidi Vokes, who was like a sister to Tyler; and many aunts and uncles.
Tyler was employed at Shawhan Place, a prominent horse breeding farm, where he was fortunate to turn his love for animals into a fulfilling career. He had a passion for hockey, cherished time spent outdoors, and, most of all, treasured every moment with his beloved wife and children. Tyler was a kind and gentle soul, known for his generous heart and warm sense of humor. His radiant smile could light up any room. His family and friends are deeply saddened by his passing, they find comfort in knowing the profound impact he had on the lives of those around him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Veteran's Inc. (https://www.veteransinc.org/) and/or to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (https://afsp.org/?donate=1).
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Tyler's family between 4 – 7 PM on Monday, June 9, 2025 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St., Auburn, with a period of remembrances at 7 PM with military honors rendered. Burial will be held privately for his family.
