Houston Tyrone "Tiny" Thomas, 75, of
Frederick, Maryland, transitioned peacefully from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 24, 2026.
Born on May 22, 1950, in
Frederick, Maryland, Tyrone was the beloved son of the late Barker "Goose" Dixon and the late Clara D.M. Thomas Harris. He was educated in the Frederick County Public School system and graduated in 1968 from Frederick High School, where he proudly played on the "Stacked, Undefeated 1968 Cadets Football Squad." His love for sports extended beyond high school, as he was an avid softball player for several local teams, including the Frederick Smokers and the Terminators. When he wasn't on the field, Tyrone enjoyed a competitive game of Spades with family and friends.
Tyrone was employed with Frederick Electronics and other local companies throughout his working years, where he was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and willingness to lend a helping hand.
A faithful and devoted servant of the Lord, Tyrone was a dedicated member of Hope Hill United Methodist Church. His commitment to ministry was evident through his active participation in numerous church ministries, including the Prayer Ministry, Food Ministry, Nursing Home Ministry, Men's Ministry, Lay Leadership, and as a Greeter. He also faithfully served as Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) Chair, Trustee, Church Treasurer, Bible Study Teacher, a Certified Lay Servant and a member of the Choir. Tyrone's quiet strength, servant's heart, and steady presence were a blessing to his church family and community.
Above all, Tyrone cherished his family. He leaves to honor and treasure his memory his daughter, Maia Thomas; his son, Trinell Thomas; and his beloved granddaughter, Madison Thomas. He is also survived by his siblings: William Diggs, Gregory Thomas Sr., William Harris Jr. (Julie), Shelby Carmon (Timothy Sr.), Clara Bowens (Pastor Rex Sr.), Michael Harris (Pauline), Jeffrey Harris, Kenneth Dixon (Genetta), and Christopher Dixon (Jennifer), his aunt Willa(Patsy)Thomas, a special cousin, Phillip (Pappy) Thomas, a special friend, Sharon Bowie and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Tyrone was preceded in death by his brother, Franklin Harris; his stepfather, William Harris Sr.; his grandmother, Florence Wedge; his great-grandparents, Benjamin and Ada Ogle; uncle, Leonard Thomas, and his aunts, Erma Thomas, Regina Thomas, and Thelma Jefferson.
Tyrone's legacy of faith, service, humility, and love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
