Tyrone Edwin Uhlir, born on March 13, 1978, in Yankton, South Dakota, passed away on March 1, 2026, in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, after he bravely fought a long battle with spinal and abdominal cancer. He was the beloved son of Rick and Vicki (Green) Uhlir and a cherished husband to his wife, Jenny Uhlir. Tyrone and Jenny shared a beautiful life together after marrying in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 2007, later welcoming five amazing sons, Gavin, Gabe, Griffin, Grady, and Grayer, who were truly the apples of his eye.
Tyrone's educational journey began at St. John’s Lutheran Elementary School and continued at Battle Creek High School, where he showcased his talents as a player on the 3-time state runner-up C-1 football team, where he played as a linebacker in 1995 and 1996, and also participated in track and wrestling, showcasing his commitment and determination. He proudly played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 1998 to 1999, proudly wearing the number 35. Although medical reasons prevented him from continuing to play, his unwavering passion for the sport remained a hallmark of his spirit as he engaged as an undergraduate assistant coach for the Huskers from 2000 to 2001. His brothers also proudly donned the scarlet and cream during their college football careers, sharing a profound love for the sport and their team.
A warm-hearted individual who never knew a stranger, Tyrone embraced life fully. He was an avid fisherman and boater, often finding solace and joy in nature. His love for music and songwriting allowed him to express himself artistically, while his enthusiasm for watching sports brought him immense happiness. Tyrone was particularly proud of attending all of his sons’ activities, where he never hesitated to cheer them on. In addition to his various passions, he became the owner of a successful venture. He was an accomplished entrepreneur, running Lunker Logistics, a flourishing business in the Nashville region.
Tyrone is also survived by his brothers: Troy (Suzanne) and their children Jared, Mark, Morgan, and Paul; Tony (Mary) and their children Leah, Logan, Lauren, Luke, and Lainey; Todd (Kari) and their children Taylor, Camryn, Trent, and Carrington; and Tom (Jen) and their daughter Maddie.
Tyrone will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched with his kindness, laughter, and love.
A funeral service to honor Tyrone will take place on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Green Hill Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet, TN, at 5 PM, with Brother Casey Colter officiating, with a short celebration of life to follow. There will also be a visitation at the church from 3 PM to 5 PM.
