Unique Chaya-Ané Miller, 34, of Charlotte, passed away on February 18, 2026, at Atrium Health in Charlotte. Her life was defined by resilience, devotion, and a love that radiated most brightly through her daughter, Khylee.
Born on December 29, 1991, in
Baltimore, Maryland, Unique entered the world three months early-a tiny fighter from her very first day. She was the cherished daughter of Bernard and Francine Smith Miller. In her early years, the family moved to Charlotte, where Unique grew up, attended Butler High School, and began shaping the life that would become her legacy.
After high school, she entered the workforce and eventually found her professional home at Atrium Health, serving as an Environmental Specialist. She took pride in her work, knowing that her efforts helped create a safe and healing environment for patients, families, and staff.
Becoming a mother to her daughter, Khylee, was the defining joy of Unique's life. Every decision she made, every dream she nurtured, centered around giving her daughter the world. She loved taking walks around the neighborhood with Khylee, turning simple moments into memories. Travel became one of their shared passions, and Unique delighted in taking her daughter anywhere she could-believing deeply in showing her the beauty, diversity, and wonder of the world.
Unique was an avid swimmer who found peace in the water. She enjoyed exploring new cuisines, especially African dishes, and embraced every opportunity to try something new. She also had a special love for the Apple ecosystem-whether it was the latest iPhone, iPad, or anything bearing the iconic logo, she enjoyed staying connected and up to date.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Khylee; her mother, Francine; her siblings: Jewel K. Miller of
Baltimore, Maryland, Brenaya N. Miller of Charlotte, Bernard R. (Lekeshia) Miller of Charlotte, and Divine S. Miller of Charlotte; her nieces and nephews Rainier, Armand, Kaiden, Breydon, Amaya, and Mia; and her aunt, Sandy Smith of Baltimore. She is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends who loved her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.
Her family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them. Services are being planned for March 21 with times to be posted when finalized. Unique will later be interred on her father's grave at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
Unique's life was a testament to strength, love, and the quiet power of a devoted mother. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and most especially in the life of the daughter she adored.
As she is beautifully and lovingly remembered by her brother, Divine:
"Her sprit was pure, she was real and that alone is rare.
She was quiet and observant but yet outspoken and some didn't know how to take it. To be so tiny but yet so tough, with a heart so big. As I sit here with tears in my eyes, I can hear her voice telling me "I'm alright, don't be sitting there crying. We alright up here. I'll see you again, just watch over Khylee for me."
Unique love that babygirl, Khylee was like her trophy in life, her strength, her purpose. A loving Mother, Sister, Friend and Queen are just a few things to describe the beautiful soul of Unique. Her name alone speak volumes, truly a Unique Woman.
From the womb she was a fighter, conqueror, survivor.
Being around her was always a beautiful trip lol, one thing about Unique is she simply not going to fake the funk!
If she sense something not right, best believe you going to know.
I'll be missing my sister until I see her again, until I can hear her crack her little jokes again, see that gorgeous smile again. So many memories as kids, growing up into adults I'll keep with me as I walk through life. Babygirl I can't wait to be with you again, my beautiful sister. Tell Daddy we love him. That's what brings me comfort is knowing GOD let my Daddy come and get his babygirl, when GOD said "you have fought the good fight, come on home and experience true peace, love and happiness." Fly high baby, we going to hold it down here on earth and be there for Khylee. We'll be together again in GOD's time. Peace. - D.M
